Truth-Journal Prompt

IMG_0414

Hey Wonderful Souls!

I find that sometimes instead of allowing myself to really let it out in my journal I find myself trying to “fix things” instead of allowing it to flow. Now don’t get me wrong I am all for looking at where we are not happy or there is something that could use action for it, it’s very important to be able to start to see those things. However when it gets in the way of really being able to release what is on our heart and mind that’s where it can be an issue. So a practice that I tried and will be going back to again and again is this: Starting with saying Truth…

So that is this weeks prompt, allow yourself to see what flows from that.

Truth…

It’s about allowing what feels like a truth to you in that moment. For me a lot of what came up is what felt like dueling perspectives or contradictions. And that is ok. I didn’t try to fix it, I just allowed it to be expressed.

9 ways to show up for yourself

IMG_1026

Hey Wonderful Souls!

A phrase that keeps coming up for me is: Showing up for myself. Or when I am talking to you, showing up for yourself.

For me that means, different things at different times in my life. As I am sure it will for you.

It means building self-trust in yourself by keeping your promises to yourself, taking care of yourself (mind, body, soul) and giving yourself support.

Lets look at 9 ways that you can show up for yourself. Not all 9 may feel right for you and that is totally ok. Maybe just one will resonate with you but that could be just the one you need.

  1. Show up on the mat (that one that comes up for me, showing up for myself on my yoga mat) For you it might be showing up in your walk, at the Gym, Run, Sports or dancing (or any other way to move your body!)

  2. Watch your promises, most of all to yourself. Really often we are not even aware of what we are promising ourselves. And really we mean it at the time on some level. But then when we don’t do it we have disappointment in ourselves and therefore lack of self-trust.

  3. Nourish your body, listen to it. One of the best ways we can show up for ourselves is nourishing our health along with #1 above you can show up for yourself by listening to the messages your body is giving you. Drink plenty of water, eat food that make you feel good (and this comes by noticing what foods might drag your energy down, bother your stomach, make you feel heavy etc)

  4. Show up to those things that give you pleasure. For me If I am not showing up for myself with regular creating (even if that is only a few minutes a day or an hour a week) I feel the difference. I feel disconnected from myself.

  5. Show up for yourself by engaging in those practices that support your best self, that nourish you. Maybe it’s journaling, listening to music, daily spiritual practice. Whatever it is for you, give yourself the gift of showing up for it (and in turn yourself.) Need support on this? check out my Clarity Coaching Sessions this is exactly the type of thing that it’s perfect for!

  6. Listen to those whispers.. Notice what things you keep wanting to do, learn, express and allow yourself to do so even if in small ways. Do you keep feeling a desire to take that class, start that blog, write that book? Start small , start now!

  7. Take a real, soulful deep breath. Sometimes what we simply need is to just stop even for a moment and breath.

  8. Talk nice to yourself. A really beautiful way to show up for yourself is by showing yourself a bit of kindness. Remind yourself that your going to be ok, that you are enough, that you are doing the best you can each moment, that you are powerful, guided.

  9. Don’t overcomplicate things. Ok look as someone who is a major over-thinker and often over complicates things that really don’t  need to be I get that this can be easier said then done! I am all for following that vision of how you want things to look, feel, be. But you have got to start somewhere if you are waiting for it all to be perfect that’s another way to keep yourself from living the life you desire. So instead of waiting to have the time to sit down and journal all your dreams, start a list on your phone, a napkin it doesn’t matter just start it with what you have and where you are. Instead of waiting for being able to afford Yoga teacher training, start reading the texts and showing up on that mat in order to deepen your practice. Instead of waiting to have that proposal done, the right tool for self publishing or whatever else before you write that book, start a folder on your computer for all that you have written already-show up for 5 minutes a day to your page.

#2 and #9 are calling to me. What one(s) feel like they are calling to you?

Friday Five Faves -Visual Journal tools

IMG_6959

Hey Beautiful Souls!

I love to share inspiration and I do so every once in a while but I have been wanting  to find a way to share more of my favorite things. I mean really there is SO much good stuff out there! So I thought instead of trying to get myself to do inspiration links every week (and lots of people do that) I would do them in themes so welcome to the first “Friday Five Faves” I will share 5 of my favorite things for all sorts of themes, etsy shops, shows, songs, quotes, products for… , sites and so on.

I LOVE visual journaling (and have a workshop coming up in the first few days of June for Layers of Life, visual journaling) so I though I would share my 5 fave products for visual journaling.

FIVE FAVE: Visual Journal Products

1-Paper tape (some varieties being Washi tape) this site has good prices and fairly fast service however you can now get this type of tape and washi tape at craft stores and on etsy.com

2-Colored pens there are lots of types of pens including gel pens and those are great, but I have found these to be a fun addition to my journaling visual (and otherwise actually!)

3-Great glue stick, I know you would think a glue stick is just a glue stick. But it makes a difference when you do lots of collage with magazine images and photos like I do!

4-This Journal -I have tried a variety of journals this is my current one. I have tried spiral, bound, small and big I like the size if this one and the spiral also the paper is thick enough to take a bit of a beating (aka paint!) I usually get mine at the craft store with a coupon. If your new to visual journaling , play around with sizes and bindings.

5-Inexpensive paint ( I have used this brand) just about every craft store has a inexpensive variety though these days and some great water-color selections my fave being a set of “cake” or pan ones from Michael’s craft store for $5

Respond to every call-Inspiration through the lens

Respondtoeverycall

Hey Inspiring Souls!

I love this quote. For me it’s a reminder to really listen to those things that you love, to love what you love, to follow those tugs , those things that really interest you. Even if you don’t know if it “makes sense” or what it has to do with… or that it’s “not productive” I am encouraging you to follow those calls. Who knows where it might lead you to.. It might even lead you to yourself…

Need and Give-Journal Prompt

IMG_0804

Hey Beautiful Souls!

I encourage you to check in with yourself and ask what do you need and what can you give.

What do I need in my life, what support am I seeking? It might even be from yourself.

What can I give to someone else that would help support them in what they are seeking to create? It might be a listening ear, time, a smile, a hug, inspiration.

Inspired by Pinterest-Easy DIY’s to try

Hey Inspiring Souls!

It’s no secret I ADORE pinterest and I have found some great ideas, blogs, recipes and DIY ideas on there. Some are just collected to swoon over others are actions I want to take or things i want to reference. There is also my DIY Inspiration board that houses many a great DIY ideas and you know I actually get to them sometimes!

Here are a few that I was inspired by and my result of them!

“Floating” bookshelves inspired by this pin

And below my result. I have so much inspiration taking over the wall space I didn’t have a ton of room but this spot above my desk was perfect for some of my fave books to reference!

IMG_0820

About a year and a half ago maybe more I painted my first canvas, it was a small one and I really liked it then. I was sort of ready to move on from it so I had it shoved in the closet until I could figure out what to do. Enter this pin for inspiration:  I have seen a few things like this idea taking old thrift store frames and doing this sort of thing to repurpose.

And my result: (and a shot of the before!)

AFTER

I may have shared this one before, but if not here it is! I have done this twice now it really is fairly easy and forgiving! Pin that inspired:

And a fave that I must do again (but I have done a few times) is this recipe, so easy and really tasty!

When You listen- Little Inspirations

IMG_6904

When you listen

You will hear the sound of your own life, calling to you asking you for just what it needs and desires

Listen

You will hear the sound of your stories repeating

Listen

You may hear what is really being said (from yourself or from another)

Listen

To the sounds of your environment

Listen

You may hear the cry for your own support

Listen

To what is draining you so you can know what to let go of

Listen

To what lights you up, so you can know what to embrace

Listen

Hear that? It’s the sound of your precious life, your precious Soul calling you, guiding you, supporting you.

Listen

What am I saving? – Journal Prompt

IMG_4038

Hey Beautiful Souls!

Do you find yourself saving stuff until… Until it’s a special occasion, the right time, until you  have the house organized, until you lose the weight -until…

What are you waiting for until?  (is it that set of dishes, outfit, journal, idea, dream, letter you want to write? )

Then I urge you to not wait until, choose 1 thing from your list and enjoy it now, bring the idea forward, name it-write it down. Make one small move to bring that “until” to now! Life is short and precious!
