Savor the Season- Spring

photo-1

Hello Wonderful Souls!

Spring is here (or just about) over this direction! While I usually  I am a much bigger fan of the Fall Season. I am ready for Spring and the clean slate it can bring more than ever this year!

Each each  I seek more and more to ways to savor season in all sorts of ways.

Ways to Savor Spring:

-Do a photo project capturing views of the season, like the beautiful blossoms that happen for such a short time or the progression of blooms that surround you.Or choose another creative project  that helps you document the beauty of the season (like drawing things of the season, noting the beautiful spring sounds etc)

-Go to your local Farmers Market and while there: Check out the fruits and veggies of the season (ask the vendors), Pick up some flowers to brighten your space.

-Plant something ( I am planning a mini succulent “garden” maybe just maybe something from a seed to grow as well)

-Get some fresh air

-Buy a little treat for yourself in a favorite spring inspired color! (this does not have to be pricey)

-Buy some fun cleaning supplies or a new green/eco cleaner to do your spring cleaning

-Choose at least 1 spot in your home or life to declutter and  Spring Clean (this can be your closet, a drawer, digital areas, letting go of shoulds, books, relationships etc)

How do you like to Savor the Season?

6 things I want to learn- Journal Prompt

IMG_9103

Hey Beautiful Souls!

I love learning, I really do. There is so much goodness out there (and inside of us!) that is easy to feel simply overwhelmed and shut down to it all. So let’s make it as small or as big as feels right for you!

What are 6 things you want to learn this year? (every 2 months, totally doable if you don’t put other people’s expectations ahead of your own!)

My 6 things are:

1-To make Sushi (I swear I have had this on some list or another for a while, but this year is it!)

2-How to do the basics with my sewing machine

3-Create artwork on my iPhone and iPad, with photos some without just to play!

4-Do this pose, without falling over or pulling something ;)

5-Use spices in my cooking

6-Successfully publish an eBook, I think it’s actually fairly straightforward with the kindle however, it’s easy to think that when you are not trying to do it at the moment!

Those are 6 things I would love to learn though hopefully I will learn lots of other great stuff! What about you, what do you want to learn?

This Month I want to… Journal Prompt

Hey Inspiring Souls!

It’s just about November ( going by scary fast!) With so much hustle and bustle starting this month for many of us I always find it grounding and helpful to look at what I really want from that (day week and in this case month)

This month:

I want to feel

Experience

Savor

Let go of

Accomplish

My responses…

I want to feel: Peaceful, Purposeful, energetic

Experience: Openness, Clarity ,Gratitude and  Joy

Savor: The amazing classes and learning that I am blessed to be diving in to. As well as Thanksgiving and my 17 year anniversary! (and also a no guild veg day!)

Let go of: Another layer (or layers) of frustration, more stuff (physical stuff, as I am wanting to create space)

Accomplish: My list of calls, follow ups and most important tasks!

5 Actions- Journal Prompt

Hey Inspiring Souls!

This weeks Journal Prompt is one to help get us into action in creating the life we want to live. No action is too small, it all matters!

Ask yourself: What are 5 Actions I could take with in the next 2 weeks that would help me create the life I want to live? (And they don’t have to be related to the same dream or goal)

My responses are:

1-Finish reading Soul Space

2-Decide on an out of comfort zone” recipe and try it (this could have been its own 5 response from finding the recipe, to getting the stuff for it and so on)

3-Make the follow-up call(s) I need to make

4-Take time each day to create, even if just for 5 minutes

5-Spend a total of 1.5-2 hours decluttering

Again, most of these could be broken way down and each one could be its own 5 actions. So do what works for you, if choosing 1 thing and 5 small action steps to work your way toward it feels right then do that!

In my way…Journal Prompt

Hey Beautiful Souls

I want to ask myself and ask you a powerful question today.

What is standing in your way of the dream, goal and life that you really want?

So often we are standing in our own ways, often because of shoulds or expectations (our own or those of other people whose expectation we have sort of “adopted”) Name some things that are standin gin you way. Then really look at it, are those things really blocking you from what you want to create or are they keeping you “safe” from having to put yourself out there in a way you feel uncomfortable about? Then think of 1 tiny thing you can do to move yourself forward!

How to Approach a Big Goal- Coaching Q and A

Q: I have a really big goal of organizing my whole house.  What is the best way to tackle it?  Should I take small steps, or should I take big chunks?

A: I know how tempting it can be to want to dive in head first with things like this (I have been there) There are a few issues with this: We forget that it has taken us often times years or at least months of getting into the clutter/chaos etc that we have now so it’s going to take time (and patience) to get out of it. Also what happens often for projects like these is that we are feeling motivated and pumped up.. for a little while and often that motivation to the level it was can shrink then we are surrounded by even more chaos. (Many of these ideas can be applied for just about any goal)

Thats a long answer to say small steps are always better with something like this :-D

Heres why and also some tips to help you in the process.

When we approach big goals with small steps we:

A: Feel way less overwhelmed by the bigness of the tasks ahead

B: Can see the progress and feel it, basking in those victories (no matter the size)

C: Are more likely to actually complete it as small steps build on top of one another and lead into big result often!

Tips:

-Make a braindump list of what needs to be done, walk around your home and see what “jumps out at you”

-Go back to that list (a few hours or days later if you can, but you don’t want  lose the motivation, so at least step away for a little bit) and then choose the area that is either: A: draining you the most, just keeps bugging you  or B: The easiest to complete area (because often when you can compete that with success it gives you  confidence for the next area and the next…)

-Ask yourself (inspired by Peter Walsh) What is my vision for this place? And consider getting rid of anything that does not fit or support that vision

-Break down each section. For example Instead of saying Declutter and Organize the Bedroom, break it down by section: Closet, Dresser, Under the Bed etc.. And there ar times where it’s helpful to break it down even more. I have a close that needs some TLC and I know I am not going to finish the entire thing in one sitting but I will take it shelf by shelf.

-Know that a little can go a long way. If you  have 15 minutes a day you will be surprised at what you can get done.

-Set the stage for it to be inspiring. Put on some music that gets you pumped up or inspired, listen to a podcast or Audio book.

-Keep yourself hydrated and fed well. Oh and get up and stretch every now and then

5 Ways to Set Yourself up for Success

Hey Beautiful Souls!

I can not tell you the amount of times I have seen or been the one to say I want something to say yes I am committed to it and then feel like I totally failed it and myself. I think there are layers of reasons in this. But one I see often is that we say we want something yet we don’t change anything we are doing.  For example if you say you want to write a book, build a business, learn a language (and a zillion other things..) yet in your free time you are just sitting watching TV that you really don’t even like all that much then you are not setting yourself up for success (even  if you are watching with your spouse, but are not that into what you’re watching then you can still often find small TV projects that could be in line with what you are committing to)  Below I go into 5 ways to set yourself up for success. There will be other steps depending on what it is you are wanting to focus on however I believe the 5 I have listed are fairly universal to most types of goals and dreams!

1-Decide what it is you want to commit/ focus on and then write it down (put it somewhere you will see often)

2-Surround yourself with Tools that will support you in this commitment as well as  Inspiration and reminders (Images, phrases oh and people virtually or in person!

3-Tweak your environment and or routine to support what it is you are committing to. (For example if I am wanting to eat healthier, then having the ingredients and tools to do so would be helpful)

4-Break down your tasks into bite size pieces where and when necessary. We often have the mindset that when we have more time then we will… Ask yourself how you can start taking even small bits of time to create what it is you want?

5-Check in with yourself on a regular basis, how are you doing with your commitment, where are you struggling with it, where are you rocking it? And adjust where and when needed. Maybe that means getting support, new “tools” or something else. Just be honest with yourself but do not spend the entire check in on beating yourself up for where you feel you are not doing as well.
