Support in your Dreams- Coaching Q and A

Hey Amazing Souls! Coaching Q & A is back! My intention to have a new post for Coaching Q & A  every other Friday!

Q: How do you motivate yourself to grow your business when friends and family think of it as “just a hobby”?

A: What a great question! I believe this is an issue that so many of us have had/are having. So you are not alone! I will give you some questions to ask yourself and some tips as well. Most of what you will see is that I am not going to suggest ways for you to convince the that what you are building is legit, it’s not your job to convince them really. The only person who you can really control is yourself. So lets look at some things that you can do to empower and motivate yourself. Often as a result of really taking ownership of your dream yourself will show others that you are serious about this.

Questions to ask yourself:

*Am I clear on what I want, what I am wanting to create?

*Do I speak about it with passion and commitment?

*Do I engage in it with passion and commitment?

*Is it that I am missing motivation or am I missing clarity , direction or support?

Tips:

*Find a support, this can come in the form of a coach, a mastermind group, someone to check in with (an accountability partner) etc.

*Speak about it with passion

*Schedule in the time to pursue it on a regular basis, even if some of that time at first is used on getting more clarity and a plan (but don’t wait until the time is perfect that will be never, that’s true for any of us!) Even it it starts with just 15 minutes a day, you have to start somewhere!

*Surround yourself with inspiration, quotes, images, your values etc. Having an environment to help you empower your mindset is always important, even more so when you feel your sort of  ”in it alone”

*Set timelines for yourself, if overwhelm is an issue then make them really doable and small. Remember small steps done on a regular basis = big things!

*Create affirmations and say them daily (a few times, or at least on a regular basis)  Look up online for affirmations using some of the key words of things that you seek: Support, clarity, focus, energy etc… Some ideas:                                I fully support myself in my dreams or  I am focused purposeful and guided those are 2 to give you some ideas. *tip: Always make affirmations in the present tense as if it’s happening now.

These questions and tips can be used for just about any dream, not just a business!

Coaching Q and A- Stuck

Hey Wonderful Souls!

It’s Coaching Q & A time!

Q: I’m really stuck on a specific project. I just can’t figure out the best step to take next and I’m up against a deadline for my boss or a customer. How do I get unstuck?

A: First, take a deep breath! I believe often in these situations that one of the best things we can do is step away even if just for  a  few minutes. I have found when we are right in the “face” of the project or piece we are working on that we can’t see what is working, what is not and what could be next if we don’t gain a little perspective.  I get when you are on a deadline it’s easy to feel like you don’t have even 15 minutes to step fully away from it. But in truth it’s often the case that we are not making any progress on it anyways by “staring” at it. Do something totally unrelated to what you are working on then go back to it. If you are still stuck try some or all of the following ideas:

1-If you can step away a little bit longer, maybe even go outside get some air!

2-Once you have stepped away a little bit try looking at it for what does work, what is good, then once you have that it’s often easier to tell what is maybe out of place or not working- make a list

3-Talk it through with someone, I have found that talking it outloud is sometimes very helpful in situations that you are feeling stuck on.

4-Think back to what the objective of the project is in the first place and look at what you have/where you are and go from there.

5-Ask for help where you know you really need it

And as a sidenote, don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishment when you are done!

Collage-Creative Prompt

Hey Creative Souls!

Lets do a collage! This can be images and words that inspire you, it can be themed for example: Visual goals for the month, for a project, your health, relationship, just things that inspire you, an event etc..It can be all words, all images or a mix of both.

Here is what to gather:

1-Surface, inside of a journal, posterboard, file folder or piece of plain paper, cover of a journal etc..

2-Glue stick

3-Scissors

4-Magazines, words images etc (junk mail, your photos all of that can work too!)

5-Time and an open mind!

Gather some words and or images that fit with the theme that you are doing, I like to gather a bunch and then see how they look arranged different ways on my surface I rarely (but do sometimes) just start gluing. But if that is what you want to do, it’s good so you won’t over think it too much and just have fun!

I of course would love it if you shared a picture of yours with me! The above images is one I did in my visual journal.I actually started to do random gluing, but I like the way it turned out!

Secret Wish’s -Journal Prompt

Todays Journal prompt is What are your Secret Wishes? You know those things that you feel are just not possible, or seem to___ to speak out into the world,  Use your journal today as a safe place to put those secret wish’s into the universe..

You don’t need to share these, of course if you wanted to , I would be happy to hear them.. But I am keeping mine sort of wrapped up for the moment at least.. Also I have not shared a visual journal page in a while as I started a new one that is taking some getting used to, and it may turn into a different use then I thought in the first place. I should be back to sharing visual pages very soon.

Also look for this week a giveaway for my online workshop as well as a post about how my  email inbox reflects my life ;-D

Starting Fresh.. Before I am 35 goals +

Hello!

I have mentioned in a few previous posts about having a before I am 35 list , the one to come after the before I am 34 list ( that deadline passed this last weekend, it was my bday) I did not meet several of the goals, as I have mentioned. But I am not beating myself up. I am starting on a new list of goals, and feeling inspired by it all!

So here is my new list, you will notice things possibly that were on the last one, I thought about these and I am not putting something on the list that I don’t really want.. At least not on a mindful level!

Before I am 35….

-Fill an Art Journal or two or…

-Launch My online workshop ( aiming for summer time or sooner if I can!)

-Have given the workshop at least 1-2 x with a good outcome!

-Plant some more succulents

-Take a vacation

-Get caught up on all yearly appointments I need to have

-Be at a healthier weight, I would like to lose about 30lbs

-Take a few belly dance classes , to see if I like it as much as I think I will!

-Take advantage of some of the cool stuff my town has. ( that is a different list! )

-Have done 2 projects out of 2 different books I have, or more.. but these 2 books have great , great ideas and something that would be different for me to do.

-Mentor someone

-Learn to make sushi

-Have a regular yoga practice

-Paint a canvas

-Bake something from scratch ( just to say I can! now my version of baking from scratch is scratching open a slice and bake package of cookies!)

-Have my apartment full organized, really this time!

-Have my apartment decorated the way I like it!

-Participate in a charity walk

-Do 1 thing that scares the #!%& out of me!

That is a bunch of them, there are more on the list, and more to be added ( and completed!) I am excited about starting fresh on this list, well most of it :-D

So I have a question for you, where do you want/need to start fresh?

Have an Inspired, Creative and Empowered weekend!

Where do you get stuck?

Ask yourself, and journal what comes to your heart and mind… Some Journal questions will be short sweet and to the point, others will have more “meat” in it.. They all have amazing value if you are really honest with yourself.

Where do I get stuck in creating my life dreams? What ones ring the most true for you?

- Clarity, I don’t have any idea what I want from my life

-Actions, I know what I want, I even have some steps that I know I need to take to make it happen, but I can’t get myself moving on it..

-Follow trough, you know what you want, you have the steps, you start the steps/actions, but it never gets finished, you have a bunch of started tasks, but very few tasks or actions that will honestly move you toward the Dream.

I have been thinking allot about Dreams , life Dreams lately. And it made me think where is it in the Dreaming process that I get stuck? Where is it that other people get stuck.. So I came up with the following 3 areas that I think are the most common in the process of creating the life we want.

For me personally, it was probably a mix of 2 but more so follow through.. That made me think, why is that? Here is my sort of “solution” and other things that I think would be helpful in really answering this Journal Question Honestly for yourself.

IF Clarity was your sticking point, then take some time to really write down without judgment, what you sort of picture for your life, what things do you really enjoy, what is it that you engage in and time just sort of goes away?? Start there and, don’t worry about it making sense, just let it flow.. That can be an excellent starting point.

If taking Action was your sticking point, then really look at your actions, what ones have you set up for yourself, are they really towards what you want? Are they really actions you feel are part of the process or is it someone else’s idea that you just adopted not really thinking about it. What actions are really what I like to call INSPIRED ACTIONS what are some you can take, where do you notice that you are great about certain ones and really lag on others?

If follow trough was your sticking point, then again really look at your motives here, look at the actions, and tasks and be honest about a few things: Are they really for your and not someone else’s  - Do you give up when you are close to that next step that freaks you out, so you keep yourself stuck on “things that have to get done before”…? Also ask, is the action broken down enough, maybe if you broke it down smaller it would be easier to manage that task, to then go to the next and so on..

Those are just ideas, but first you have to know what you are trying to “fix” before you can get the tools to fix it.

Remember, don’t edit, let it flow and no beating yourself up about any of it!
