Permission- Creative Clarity Vision Journal Challenge

Hey Creative Soul!

Over the years I have found not only creative connection through visual vision journaling but I have often found clues and clarity.

Over the next 8 or so I will be sharing 2 prompts a week for you to use as a diving in point for your vision journaling. Let me explain a little about what i mean when I say vision journaling. It’s essentially visual journaling, but with more intention, it’s a way to not only search for images but to search for ones and use them in your journal that represent what you seek (and in this case inspired by the prompts I will give) I will be encouraging you to not overthink or worry about getting it wrong, but to simply lean into it and trust what you are pulled to and glue! Also to write lists, notes and bits as you desire.

And onto the first prompt!

PERMISSION:

Permission, in several of my courses and many times in my own journaling, visioning practice I have found it supportive to create a permission slip of sorts. We can get so caught up in our own expectations or comparisons that we forget that these practices are for us. _ Today choose images, words (written by you, magazines) , color or doodles, lists  that express what you want to give yourself permission for.

Feeling stuck? A few words to spark ideas… Trust, play, listen, get messy

10 Meaningful gift ideas (on a budget)

Hey Lovely Souls,

I wanted to share some ideas for some meaningful gift ideas that you could give others that fit most any budget! I know times are tough for many and this time of year often makes things  bit tighter. That doesn’t mean that you sacrafice meaning though!

  1. A journal. You can go to the dollar store and grab a cute notebook or composition book (or buy what one you can find and decorate the cover.) Some ways to spruce up this gift, grab some kids art supplies and put together a mini visual kit. You can also write, print out and glue, rip from magazines some prompts throughout the journal (or give them a little envelope or jar of prompts)
  2. Print out a favorite photo and get a frame for inexpensive and gift that to them.
  3. Make something sweet or make a meal, offer to help in some way (watch the kids, help with their elderly parent, do some errands for them.
  4. Rent a movie and get some snacks and spend time watching something with them.
  5. Grab a nice cup, a box or some bags of tea and some cozy socks.
  6. Get them a book that will inspire them.
  7. Take them out for sweets/snack and tea/coffee.
  8.  Start a secret Pinterest board with them (or another idea Trello, this is an idea I got from a lovely group I am part of she suggested Trello but this idea can easily be used for Pinterest as well.)  Here’s the concept you start the secret board and add things you know that they want to learn, that they are interested in, inspiring quotes, pretty pictures, links to things to support them. Then invite them when you are ready to gift them You can keep adding to it. Another lovely idea I saw in a magazine one year was a woman who emailed her mother something inspiring or pretty everyday for 30 days.
  9. Create a playlist for them.
  10. Give them a subscription to a magazine you know they love or would love. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Watercolors and stencils-creative prompt

Hey Creative Souls!

Creative prompt:

Grab a stencil or two and play with watercolor and stencils.

I also played around with just squeezing my water brush with varied colors to play with the various pigment possibilities!

If you don’t have watercolors use what you have to play around with. Use crayons, craft paint etc. no stencils? See if you can look around your space and get curious about might work in a different way than it’s original purpose is!

From where I stand- Photo Prompt

Hey Beautiful Souls,

If you have been following my blog for any length of time you know I have  a thing for taking foot photos (from where I stand, Grounded in this moment) If you haven’t, well now you do know!

I plan on sharing photo prompts more often, it’s easy to get caught up in the drama, busyness whatever of life and not slow down long enough to capture our moments, the seemingly mundane (the exciting, the settle all of it represents parts of your story)

This week capture 1 or more pictures of your feet… if you share it, write what goes along with it, where you are, what you are feeling, whatever feels right to share along with it. From where I stand, Grounded in this moment….

Here are some examples of mine…

Those are some examples, it could be so many ways… on the yoga mat, waiting for someone, in sassy shoes, grounding to the earth, out for a run, with the feet of others that you are with (the list could go on!)

Where are you standing lately, where are you feeling grounded in the moment?

August Intention setting and Inspiration

Hey Inspiring Soul,

Welcome to August… Good lordy, how did that happen?

For the last few months, I have gotten away from entering into the month with intention. From hospital visits to the loss of my father, things have just been on react mode really. All of these things remind me yet again that I desire to live a life of intention. So I am starting where I am.

These prompts are good for anytime really especially the begging of a new month.

  1. How do I want to feel this month? (what do you most need?)
  2. What do I want to savor this month?
  3. What do I want to explore?
  4. What do I want to accomplish?

My responses to the above questions (and then some inspiration for August)

  1. I want to feel present this month, I most need to take moments to really listen to myself, my life, my body and those I love.
  2. Moments connecting with those I care about and Nature.
  3. So many things, but I will choose details of the every day through the lens in black and white.
  4. I want to get a few personal/household things done that I have been putting off and get that follow up cholesterol test done!

AUGUST INSPIRATION:

  • Back to school supplies (even if, especially if!) you don’t go to formal classes. Grab $5-10 and find some fun supplies they are plentiful in this month. A fave of mine is actually graph composition notebooks (.50) post it’s and fun pens.
  • Choose a book to dive into this month…. follow your gut not your should on what one you choose!
  • Get to the farmers market, buy a veggie or fruit that looks too good to pass up! Grab a bouquet of flowers.
  • Make a playlist to support those things you set intentions for (see the first part of this post!)
  • Add one tiny thing to your daily routine that feels nourishing ( a cuppa tea, make your bed, put on lotion etc…)

Creating your October Goals and Intentions

IMG_7520

Hey Beautiful Souls!

This last month has been such a mix of I can’t believe we are in October now to the longest month of my life. My family was in the midst (and working our way through it now) a medical/health crisis. There are so many lessons I have learned and am learning. I expect as the layers become more and more clear some of my work (and life) will change a bit (or a lot)  to share this journey.

However one thing I love and don’t see shifting is to create dreams, intentions, goals for each new month (and season) . Some months will be full, others will have more space…

So I am asking myself…

What do I want to create?

What do I want to feel?

What do I want to accomplish?

What do I want to savor?

How do I want to show up?

How will I take care of my future self in this present moment?
