Pondering our Distractions…

Hey Inspiring Souls!

Let’s talk about distractions! Most times they serve us in some way or another .

They come wrapped up so many ways we often don’t even realize they are occurring.

I’ve asked myself and others lately in what way their distractions are serving them. I encourage you to ask yourself the same question.

While we’re at it you I encourage you ( and myself ) to explore in what ways the distraction depleting as well.

Other things to ponder about distractions

What is distracting me?

Is this supporting how I want to show up? How I want to feel? What Is want to accomplish?

Not all distractions are bad , sometimes they are what we need for our mental health at the time.

Don’t beat yourself up, this is simply about starting to explore our distractions.

16 (small) actions to help you live with more intention

Hey Lovely Souls,

Shifting the energy, our lives and starting the path of living a more intentional life doesn’t have to cost us a bunch or any money and doesn’t have to be time consuming. Here are some small actions you can take!

  1. Create a yes stack of books
  2. Release books that feel like “Should”
  3. Clean out your purse, car, junk drawer
  4. Unsubscribe to a email or 3!
  5. Delete apps you never use
  6. Write down a mantra and post it somewhere you will see it often ( I am loved, I am guided, I am doing my best)
  7. Look people in the eyes when you are talking to them (it’s easy to look at our phones or to dismiss the person behind the counter helping us.. make a point to make eye contact)
  8. Send an encouraging text, email, note.
  9. Put on a song you love and move to it or let it move you (sitting and soaking it in…eyes close if safe to do so)
  10. Choose a talisman of sorts, something to wear or easily portable to remind you that you are guided.
  11. Set up “stuff” the night before (clothing, coffee, am tools to help you start your day with purpose and alignment)
  12. Write down what you are grateful for (or paint it, capture a picture, write a poem)
  13. Ask yourself am I numbing or nourishing
  14.  Carry a journal with you to capture ideas, thoughts, doodles, wish lists, soul notes
  15. Carry a reusable water bottle to help you hydrate
  16. Plan your week, make sure you are in the schedule as well. Taking care of yourself is the foundation to supporting your other and to supporting your dreams!

Living with Purpose, Monday Mindset

Waiting until -Monday Mindset

Hey Beautiful Souls!

For many of us life’s circumstances tend to dictate a lot of things for us. Our mood, out attitude and our level of participation in the goals and dreams we have on our hearts and lists.

I have been doing that a LOT more than I would like to admit especially this year. There are several situations that have come up (one thing after another it feels like sometimes) and things that were supposed to be sort of settled. However, things keep shifting into the unknown.

I realized that what I need to do is learn to live with WAY more intention and calm in the midst of the chaos.

I had/have been waiting until… I will study these things more when… I will focus on this more when… When this happens or is figured out I will…

There may be times where this thinking is actually valid and helpful. However, in many circumstances it’s just not. It’s the total opposite. If I hang my goals, self-care, relationships, growth on other people or circumstances then what happens if those “whens’ don’t happen?

This Monday Mindset is to server as a reminder for these times:

Ask yourself, what areas am I living a when this happens, I will mindset? Does this really need to wait until… to be started?

Mindset Mantra:

My life is happening right now. I choose to focus on living with intention, peace and alignment each day. (Even if I am inching there!)

Control- Monday Mindset

Hello Beautiful Souls!

Welcome to another “Monday Mindset” out mindset has way more influence in our lives than we realize. It’s more automatic for many of us to look at all the undones, the what feels stressful, where we feel out of control in our lives.

When we can focus on what we can control (and reminder that’s not always directly related to the thing we feel out of control/worried about) it can support us in many areas of our lives.

This weeks Monday Mindset Mantra is:

I focus my energy into what I can control, this helps me see opportunities for peace, growth and connection.

Create your March Intentions

Hello Lovely Souls,

Ready or not it’s March already!

With life being full of all sorts of things, stuff, commitments, ideas, obligations etc. I find it important and supportive to go into the month with some intentions.

Here are some things to ponder and take time to jot down…

  1. What do I want to feel this month?
  2. What do I want more of this month?
  3. What do I want less of this month?
  4. What do I want to accomplish this month?
  5. What do I want to savor this month? (an experience, meal, view)
  6. What do I want to create this month?
  7. How can I invest in myself, my life this month to help me become more aligned?

Some other thoughts about creating your intentions…

Write them down

Revisit your intentions regularly

Decide on your non negotiable intentions (most of us have a tendency to get excited and over commit ourselves on some level)

Deep breaths

Write them, collage them, doodle them out!

Ponder what you can do on the regular to support how you want to feel and what you want to accomplish/create.

5 Sunday practices for a better week

Hey lovely souls,

these days most especially this time of year can have us reacting to all there is to do all the expectations.

I know for me this is true and sometimes I don’t even realize I’m in that mode of reacting vs responding.

I think having practices that support you and intentional responding are a great way to reduce the stress of constant reaction mode.

  1. Plan your week. Obviously you can’t plan every detail or anticipate every possible distraction or drama. But you can plan with intention. What needs attention, what needs to get accomplished, what ways can you take care of your mind body and soul?
  2. Do a blitz around your space. This isn’t about massive decluttering it’s about taking 5-15 minutes in your space/spaces to put things away, shift things around etc.
  3. check in with yourself what do you need to support you or you and yours? A few groceries , reminders for appointments? Take a few minutes to figure that out snd carve out the time if you can.
  4. Do something that makes you feel nourished. Read, eat a yummy meal, hydrate, go for a walk. This doesn’t have to be time consuming.
  5. Do a brain dump. Some things will end up in your plan for the week, done might be ideas or gratitudes. This helps us not to hold onto so much mentally.

Do you have Sunday practices?

Book Pre-Order and Supporting those in need!

Hey Beautiful Souls!

I am thrilled to announce the launch of a passion project I have been working on this year. This is a project that my Dad and I were working on for a while now. He passed away before we could finish it (and we had just recommitted a few months before he passed away) It was too tender of a project to finish last year for me and for those I would have asked for some support on. So I committed to getting it completed this year and self published. Here it is!

If you are looking for a different kind of devotional that explores  the intersection of spirituality and creativity, prompts (I call them Soul Prompts) to help you take that idea into your daily life in a practical manner then this book is for you!

For the first 60 days of this books sales all proceeds earned will be donated to help the victims of the devastating Paradise, CA fires (near Chico, CA) we have family in Chico a very close town to the one that has been virtually destroyed.

You can find out more about the book and Pre-Order here!!!

Get it done (or at least started!)- Weekend Empowerment Challenge

Hey Lovely Souls!

If you are anything like me, you have some (or a lot!) of stuff that sort of lingers in the space of it needs to be done or I really want to do it and I don’t have the time, space, energy, money etc…

We forget that we have to make it ourselves! I have a list of things that are undone, that linger and tug at me, yet I have not made the time to just get them done or at least started.

That’s my challenge to you this weekend. Start or complete something that has been bugging you, something you have put off. Ok technically the intention for these was to complete something each weekend. But if it’s just not feasible for this prompt then that’s ok the intention is to start to shift the energy around that project, task etc..

It’s likely as soon as you see this post something will come to mind. If it doesn’t however, I have some ideas to spark your list.

Take that donation stuff and drop it off, get the haircut (that’s mine this weekend!), Make that call, try that recipe, get the lab work done or scheduled,  write that post, work on that class, choose the date, print the photos, start the memory keeping project (perfectly imperfect!)

Are you in? What’s your get it done or start it this weekend?
