A few basics in a crisis- Tuesday Tips

Hey Lovely Souls.

My family is in another health crisis and it’s been consuming our energy. In that it’s easy to lose all sense of caring for ones self. While I really get that, I am in that what I need to remember (and am great about reminding others of!) is that when we don’t take care of our most basic needs during these times we can then get so stressed, sick or overwhelmed that we are no good to the one who is having the health crisis or anyone around us.

  1. Just Breathe, when we are stressed, worried, sad, angry we sometimes forget to actually consciously breathe. I am reminding my loved one of that too when I start to see the shallow or what appears to be stressed energy breathing.. In through the nose out through the mouth!
  2.  Hydrate and nourish your body as well as you can. Hydrate, try to make healthier choices for your food, move a little bit.
  3. Pray, Meditate, use a mantra, repeat an affirmation. When our energy is too focused on the worry, sadness, anxiety we are not helping ourselves or our loved one in the crisis. I am not saying those things won’t come up, they will. But having a prayer, meditation etc… to repeat helps refocus our energy and mindset.

Hello Beautiful You!

This is in a nutshell (or square image!) how I am feeling about this year and my dreams.

So often we (read, I) have let the head win over the tuggings of the soul. After a while, it gets “easy” to just keep going that direction. We pretend that those tuggings are no big deal or we will listen another time, that they aren’t practical (umm they aren’t necessarily supposed to be!)

Those tuggings come in various ways, including cravings, words, and themes coming up again and again,  they show up as joy (sometimes mixed with fear!) They can show up in a feeling that we can’t quite name, an image in a magazine or a word, song or so many other ways. You likely know them but are so used to saying you can’t, don’t know how, you are scared.

What if you listened to those tuggings just a little closer, what if you allowed tiny bits of them in and some more and so on…

You know what it’s time for, you know your Soul is ready to support you, to guide you with everything she’s got. It’s ok that your head isn’t ready, just allow yourself to show up for your Soul even just a little.

May you be kind to yourself today. May you be kind and open to listening with compassion and an open mind.

We can stand strong in what we believe in without bringing someone who thinks differently down.

17 Awesome things to try in 2017

work-to-become

  1. Sign up for Creativebug.com they have a ton of classes and are incredibly affordable. ($5 a month)
  2. Try a 30 day Yoga Challenge (doyouyoga.com has one for free)
  3. Try a 30 Meditation challenge (doyouyoga.com also has this for free!)
  4. Project 365 or project 52 photo a day or photo a week for the year (I am doing 365 again this year after years of not really trying to do so!)
  5. Spend 5 minutes daily on your finances. (5-minute finance check-ins is something I am putting into place this year!)
  6. Sign up for a reading challenge (I am attempting 32 books at least this year!)
  7. A new recipe, or once a week, month, season.
  8. Visual Journaling (I happen to have a course  that I created here!)
  9.  Don’t complain for 24 hours (this is something I am going to attempt, likely several times lol)
  10. Work with a Coach (My current offerings in supporting you!)
  11. Go on to Udemy.com  and sign up for a class on a skill you think would be fun to learn or would support your other desires this year.
  12. A blog, YouTube Channel, Podcast. A way to share your ideas with others!
  13. Try a new “look” maybe it’s switching up your accessories, getting a new hairstyle or color, revamping your wardrobe or getting one or two pieces you love but are not your usual.
  14. Explore the various ways to move your body to support your well-being. Dance, walk, YouTube videos, in person classes, a group, In Home Yoga, Dancing to your own beat!
  15. Try asking for what you want a little more often. Start small if this feels intimidating to you. If you go out to eat and someone says where do you feel like going.. if you do have an opinion then speak it! Sometimes the person we need to be the most honest with about our needs and desires is ourselves.. start there if that this feels true for you. Ask yourself what I Really need is, what I really want is…
  16. We are surrounded by so many choices. One thing you might try this year is to limit yourself. This can be a personal challenge of not spending anything (unnecessary) for a day, week, month. It could also be not allowing the overwhelm of all your supplies to stop you from starting…Pare down your supplies and dive in!
  17. Making a practice of telling yourself what you appreciate about you (daily and in the mirror would be even more powerful, but start with what feels right)

What are some awesome things you might want to try in 2017?

7 Questions to help support an Empowered 2017

img_9474

Hey, Beautiful Souls!

As this year comes to a close and we go into a fresh new year I have been stewing on these questions to help me rise up in my own life in 2017… I thought I would share these questions with you. Maybe you are feeling that introspective,  hopeful space.  At the same time trying to figure out how you can not repeat the same frustrations of not diving into many of the things you say you really were seeking.

  1. What do I need to do differently in 2017?
  2. What have I been allowing to distract me from what I say I want?
  3. What, who can support me?
  4. What do I need to put in place, what systems might support me?
  5. How might I engage in the healing work that would best support what I am here to do, what I desire?
  6.  What’s working, what worked this year?
  7. What isn’t/didn’t work this year?

Dear 2016… A year end ritual.

img_9659

Hey Lovely Souls,

For the last 3+ years, I have written a letter to the year as it comes to a close. It’s a great way to reflect upon what the year has held.
This year I almost decided to just write… Dear 2016, WTF?! or Dear 2016, Seriously?!
However, I decided I wanted to expand upon that 🙂
So here it goes…
Dear 2016,
You went by so fast, while you felt like the fastest year yet, you also felt like you held several years in one.
You held so much big change. Change for me, my family and frankly, the world.  Between moves (merging households), connection, division,  multiple health issues for family,(including a major health crisis) and the election you shifted everything. Some ways I can see clearly and some I am still finding my way to and through.
You were full of so much loss for many people on many different levels.
You taught me on a different level what really matters, you gave me some wake-up calls (really one would have been sufficient!) You exhausted me and pushed me.
You are still teaching me to adjust to these new circumstances after years and years of doing it differently. I am still slowly learning to respond instead of reacting.
You also gave me some truly beautiful gifts. A deeper trust in my gut, she is wise and I intend to listen and nourish my connection to her on a more intentional, soulful level. Tender moments amidst the crises. Courage to use my voice where it mattered, Chances to reevaluate how I show up, chances to step up. Connections with people I care about.  Also, you gave me so many of the seemingly small and simple moments surrounded by the beauty of everyday life. Thank You for these and so much more.
The thought of wanting a do over has crossed my mind. But what I really want is to tuck these lessons in my toolbelt of truthful living and to do better, to do differently and to take all that beauty and to apply it to help co-create a beautiful 2017 and beyond. (preferably without all of the various moments of “drama” to get the point across this time, please and thanks!)
Thank You Truly and Deeply,
Heather

PS: What would your letter to the year say?
