Friday 5

Bring Intention into your weekend- Friday 5

5 ways to bring intention into your weekend
1) Determine how you would like to feel.
2) Make a mini list of what you want/need to do this weekend. (*hint, check in with your word of how you want to feel. Do these actions bring you closer or further to it)
3) Plan your week ahead, Personally I like to do this Sunday evening. It helps me approach my week with far more intention than if I just react to everything that comes up.
4) Spend at least a little time doing something that nourishes you. Go outside, read, take a bath, cook/order a yummy meal etc..
5) Check in how often you are checking out with your phone or other device/screen. It’s not about beating yourself up. It’s about noticing how often you do this by default. The more we check in about these things the more intentional you become when you do pick up your device or remote.

Tuesday Truths

When I Release…- Tuesday Truths(from the archives)

Hey  Beautiful Souls,

It’s easy for us to hang onto things, people, obligations etc. that no longer serve us (or never did) and when we do this we end up unintentionally blocking what is ours to do, create, learn, have etc. Because our lives, spaces, minds are full with “things” that are not aligned with our truths, purposes, with who we want to be and how we want to show up.

What is one tiny thing (or a big one if you feel called to that) that you can release that really isn’t serving you? This can be physical or mental.

Hello Beautiful You!

This is in a nutshell (or square image!) how I am feeling about this year and my dreams.

So often we (read, I) have let the head win over the tuggings of the soul. After a while, it gets “easy” to just keep going that direction. We pretend that those tuggings are no big deal or we will listen another time, that they aren’t practical (umm they aren’t necessarily supposed to be!)

Those tuggings come in various ways, including cravings, words, and themes coming up again and again,  they show up as joy (sometimes mixed with fear!) They can show up in a feeling that we can’t quite name, an image in a magazine or a word, song or so many other ways. You likely know them but are so used to saying you can’t, don’t know how, you are scared.

What if you listened to those tuggings just a little closer, what if you allowed tiny bits of them in and some more and so on…

You know what it’s time for, you know your Soul is ready to support you, to guide you with everything she’s got. It’s ok that your head isn’t ready, just allow yourself to show up for your Soul even just a little.

Mindful Moment Monday.., Stumbling towards Mindfulness

Scents.. Mindful Moment Monday

IMG_2358

Hey Lovely Souls..

Today, this week I encourage you to notice scents, smells..

Notice what different scents around you are, make a mental, digital or paper note about the various ones you smell throughout the day.

Notice if any of them trigger anything for you, make you feel a certain way. (“Good” and “Bad” scents.. )

Check in with yourself- Stumbling towards mindfulness

Monday moment of mindfulness; Stumbling towards mindfulness..

Heya Beautiful Souls!

I know the word mindfulness is “thrown” around a lot these days. But to put it simply it’s really about paying attention, awareness.  Don’t get me wrong, I spend (especially these days) a lot of my time more distracted than I would like or find myself in react instead of respond mode. But I do want to be more mindful in a lot of areas of my life. I am inching and stumbling towards it.. one moment at a time!

So let’s take a moment for mindfulness, how about right now?

Notice: Where are your shoulders? ( I know this sounds like a really strange question. But for me I find that if I don’t pay attention then my shoulders will end up by my ears unintentionally!  If that’s where yours are. Relax them. )

Now take a deep breath in through your nose, out through your mouth.

Beautiful.. see that didn’t take long and can be a great way to check in with yourself throughout the day.

5 words/Phrases to watch out for in your self-talk-Friday 5

5 words/Phrases  to watch out for in your self-talk

Hey Inspiring Souls! Our self-talk is powerful and we so often are unconscious to what we say to ourselves and about ourselves.

I encourage you to start really listening to yourself. Is your talk empowering, truthful or is it disempowering and fearful?

Here are 5 words to watch out for.

1)      Should, I know sometimes this word just fits in when another one doesn’t.. however it is so often full of much more than just 6 letters.. this can be a sneaky one too as often the -should can be unspoken but is felt.

2)      I can’t.. (do it, afford it, figure it out… )

3)      I don’t know (sometimes this is a totally legit phrase other times for many of us it can become the space filler for truths we are not ready to speak to ourselves or others.)

4)      What’s the matter with me.. When we feel we do things wrong or have made a bad choice this phrase can often pop out of our mouths. Where in this did I disconnect or lose my power instead of what’s the matter with me.

5)      I am such an (idiot, horrible person and so on) though if your “I am such an” ends with things like amazing person, real go getter and uplifting and empowering phrases by all means keep it! But for a majority of us that is much more rare than the disempowering words to end it with.

Really these are just a start, however these are I believe to be some of the most often used words and phrases that we use to ourselves and speak about ourselves.

I encourage you to start to listen, simply listen and notice. How does it feel in your body when you speak this way to and about yourself?

Deep breath, you’ve got this

Empowered, Empowerment Prompt

Look it up- Empowerment Prompt

Empowerment Prompt:

Hey Empowered Souls!

This week our Empowerment Prompt is one I have embraced more and more lately.

Look it up, Learn it,

Seeking knowledge, learning is a great way to feel empowered.

How often do we put aside the things we want to learn even tiny ones like a word, meaning, symbol..  We tell ourselves it’s not that important right now, we don’t have time, it’s too complicated and so on..

It doesn’t even matter what it’s about.. it can be anywhere from the meaning of a feather to learning about a layer of finance you don’t know.

What are you going to look up, learn today?

Simple Pleasures… Part 1

IMG_5379

Hey Beautiful!

It’s all too easy to get caught up in the busy energy of everyday life and to simply stop noticing or actively connecting to our simple pleasures.  This month I will be doing a mini series on just that.. inviting more simple pleasures into your life.

  1. Get fresh flowers for yourself, stop waiting for someone else to buy them and grab a bunch or a beautiful single one for yourself and put it somewhere you will see it throughout the day.
  2. Carve out 10-30 minutes to just sit and read, for the pure joy of it.
  3. Put on a song or 3 that you love, and really listen to it.. Instead of letting it just be in the background while you do the zillion other things you need to do.
  4. Sit outside and just close your eyes, let the breeze or brisk air touch your face, feel the warmth of the sun (if there is any!) on your body
  5. Sit with a cup of tea (or other beverage you really love) and give yourself at least a few minutes to just savor it. Feel the temperature, really taste it. feel the shape of the mug in  your hands.
  6. Put on a favorite accessory, item of clothing or something along those lines.. don’t wait for that special occasion life is one.. wear it now (even if you are “just” hanging out at home!)

Inspired Living Series- Becky McCleery

inspiredliving

Hey Inspiring Souls!

I am so happy to have another installment of the Inspired Living Series.  I am happy to introduce you to Becky McCleery, a lovely Soul I “met” online recently. She has some beautiful thoughts and ideas for us, so read on and be inspired!

In this busy, frenzied, on demand world we live in, how does one even begin to lead an inspired life?  What does it mean to live inspired?

To me, an inspired life is a conscious choice.  It is a choice to step out of the chaos and reconnect with the heart of who you are.  It is the decision to listen to and trust in your inner wisdom, follow the longings of your soul, and share your unique magnificence in everything you do.  Living an inspired life means waking up each day and making the choice to be fully alive.

An inspired life is a choice and a journey.  If you are feeling somewhat stuck or simply uninspired, here are a few ideas to help you begin reconnecting with your inner brilliance (what lights you up and makes you sparkle and shine as only you can):

•What energizes you?  Follow that energy and nourish your spirit.  How can you make more time for this in your life?

•Shake up your routine.  Try playing with possibilities.  Sometimes our daily lives begin to feel monotonous and it is all too easy to live on autopilot.  In order to wake up, sometimes we need to break out of the ordinary.  Try listening to yourself.  What do you need right now?  What are you longing to do?  Allow yourself to honor and follow whatever answers come to you.

•Go outside and connect with nature.  Take a walk, go for a bike ride, or have a picnic and make this intentional.  Notice the beauty all around you.  What amazes you?  What do you love?  Make time to slow down and enjoy where you are now.

•What did you love as a child?  Take some time and think back to what you adored as a kid.  What could you do for hours that made time fly by?  Is this still a part of your life?  If so, how?  If not, could you reintroduce it to your life?  What might that look like?  Don’t worry about how good you are at this activity, simply allow yourself to relax, play, and have fun.

•What are you curious about?  What would you like to learn about?  Where can you begin?  Sometimes inspiration pushes us to stretch and grow.  Stop making excuses or holding yourself back, and give yourself the gift of time to explore and discover.  Enjoy the journey without putting pressure on yourself to achieve a certain outcome.  Open up to possibilities to shine and thrive.

•What are you grateful for?  Make a commitment to choose gratitude and notice the beauty and blessings in your life.  Take photos of what you are thankful for, keep a gratitude journal, or make a habit of saying “thank you.”  Wonder is all around us, but we are often too busy to notice.  This seemingly simple change can open up abundant possibilities before you.

•What do you care about?  What issues or causes move you?  How can you make a difference?  Getting outside of ourselves and focusing on helping others is a powerful way of connecting with inspiration.  Seek ways to spread kindness and be love in action, then notice how this impacts your feelings and your life.

Inspiration is all around us, we simply need to make the choice to slow down and live with intention.  Here is your challenge for today:  Nourish your spirit.  Did something from this list light you up?  Do it.  Is there something you’ve been longing to do?  Begin today.

The world needs more people who are fully alive.  The world needs you, your gifts, and your love.  Let’s join together to wake up, share our unique brilliance, and light up the world with loveliness!

Hey Inspiring Souls!

It’s that time again Friday 5 Faves! Living an inspired life is allowing yourself to be surrounded by people, things and practices that inspire you that you love and enjoy!

These list every Friday will range from products, posts, songs to whatever else is inspiring me!

5 Fave Products:

  1. I have a thing for this size and paper (5×8 ish and graph paper) for notes, images etc) This one is great, it comes in a pack of 3!
  2. This salve is amazing it can be used for itchy skin to diaper rash and many other things.. It’s herbal and made with care!
  3. Chicobags they are reusable and fold into a little pouch attatched to them, making it easy for you to always have a few with you. There is a fairly large variety of styles now too but I have used the original
  4. Planner Pad, while I love the digital world I really do best when I have a physical list. This one is perfect because it has room to schedule specific things as well as overall areas to divide your to do’s into.
  5. Although I do love a set of great colorful pens I also really love a great back pen that writes smooth and consistent. This pen has   been my go to pen for my planner for more than a year and a half now. They last a long time as well!
