Intention and Release- Journal Prompt

Hey! Beautiful Soul!

We are in (or just about) a brand new month (June, how the heck did that happen!!??) It’s been a heck of a month for several reasons. There is lots of energy around it, positive and negative. I want to go into this next month with intention and some spaciousness. In order to do that, I have to focus in on my intention and let go of some things.

The prompt this week is:

What do I want to feel, Create, Explore and Accomplish in the new month coming up? Then what do I need to loosen my grip, let go of, release from the month coming to a close?

Connect to the season-Friday 5

1)      Create a word or phrase of intention for the season (play, savor, spaciousness)

2)      Eat seasonally, go to the farmers market and choose an in season new to you or fave fruit or veggie.

3)      Get a mini journal and collect bits of your days during a season.. aim for filling it up (a more detailed prompt to come soon!)

4)      Create a list of ideas, goals, experiences you  might like to dig into this season

5)      Make or treat yourself to something that feels like the season to you.. this could be food (warmer weather always induces a craving of ice cream/frozen yogurt for me!)  , a craft, a local event, a trip. We all have cravings or traditions  that certain seasons bring up for us, honor that craving if it’s feasible!

How do you like to connect to the season?

Friday 5 Faves- Live With Purpose

Hello Beautiful Souls!

I am of the belief that you don’t have to know what your purpose is in life to live a life with purpose. In fact I believe this so much I wrote an eBook on it!

Living with purpose isn’t always tied to what you do, it’s more about how you show up, it’s about living with Intention

Here are my 5  of my favorite ways to live with purpose:

  1.  Showing kindness, showing kindness is a beautiful way to live with purpose. It’s not always easy when we often feel like acting out of emotion, hurt or hurry. However showing kindness to others or yourself can show up in many different ways. The way you talk to yourself, the way you take care of your body, connecting with those you live with and offering a sweet gesture or kind word, smiling at a stranger, looking the cashier in the eye, being kind to the environment by bringing a reusable bag, taking the time to sort your recycling. Kindness has many faces.2-By setting intentions and actions for each month. The monthly intentions are themes so to speak. I will often start with a list of the things I know I need to do or really want to do (explore, create, etc. ) for each month. Then ask myself how do I want it to feel that month, is there a theme emerging or is one calling to me that seemingly has nothing to do with my lists. If I can’t think of one right off the bat I make a list of words that I want to feel that month and let it emerge from there.

3-Inspiration, seeking it and spreading it. I seek inspiration on a daily basis, I also do my best to live a life that inspires others to live with more inspiration, creativity and empowerment in their lives.

4-Do Gooding, Giving back. This shows up in a variety of ways and they don’t even have to cost you anything. Spreading the word about a cause you believe in, sharing the work and inspiration of those that you admire, connect with and love. Volunteering your time, service, saying a prayer for someone, leaving a note of encouragement for a stranger or sending one to someone you care about (send a postcard, send an email, text, make a call)

5-By continuing to create a practice of engaging in things that are allowing my present self to lovingly take care of my future self. Such as movement, plenty of water, sleep, connection.

My word for 2013

Hey Beautiful Souls!

As many of you do I choose a word as a guiding word for each year. Last year my word was “Light” and boy did it show up in some beautiful ways as well as some difficult but ultimately good ways! This year my word really chose me, I was making a list of some possible words and this word popped into my head and wouldn’t let go. I knew it was my word when I got giggly when I thought about it 🙂

My word for 2013 is EXPAND

When I looked up the meaning of this word to get a better idea of it I loved some of the things it said:

1. to make or become greater in extent, volume, size, or scope; increase

2. to spread out or be spread out; unfold; stretch out

Another related word is: Grow

This wraps up so much of what I want this year in one little word!

I want to expand my knowledge of finances, my bank account, the space I live in and the space I hope to be bigger with room for me to grow (more spaces to create and do Soul work in) I would like my online community to expand, I would like my capacity for forgiveness to expand, my Soul work those are just some of the ways/areas I want to expand. This word is perfect for what I want to create in 2013.

Do you have a word? I would love it if you shared with me in the comments! I also every year do Heart Resolutions so that is a list of words that encompass what I want to feel that year. I will be sharing mine soon however if you would like to join in you can check out the PDF here!

Monthly Vision Journaling and my June vision

Hey Creative Souls!

I have had some questions on vision journaling lately so I thought I would do a quick post on it and at the same time share my June vision journal page.

Simply put vision journaling is like doing a dream board/a vision board in a journal. It’s a small compact way to have your visions for specific things or months all in one compact space. I mostly use collage, but you can use paint, words, images, lists.. Whatever works for you, experiment a bit!

Here is what I do, I first look at my lists for the year or any major list i have of dreams and goals i am wanting to accomplish. Then I write a monthly list of things I want to accomplish based on the major list and anything else that comes up. From that I look at the heart of what I want to create that month and or my priorities for that month. Then I find the words and images that sort of sum up what I am wanting .

If you don’t have a list that you go based off of  then just write a list of what you really want that month, or from that specific vision and find the words and images that best fit it. Put it in your journal, I have a specific one for my vision journaling but it could go wherever you want it to, your visual journal, regular journal it’s totally up to you!

Do you have a monthly practice to try to keep you inspired and on track with your goals and dreams? I would love it if you shared it with me! Have any questions? Post them here or email me! heather.shafer (@) gmail.com
