Journaling Prompts

Morning Rituals/Routines -Journal Prompt

Hey Beautiful Souls!

How do you start your mornings? With intention or distraction? This weeks in your journal, I encourage you to ponder just that. I also invite you to list some things you would like to add into your morning routine/rituals. This is not you committing to it, you are simply creating a wish list of practices/things you want to have in your morning. If you feel called to, choose one thing and decide how you wan to add it in.

Our mornings often can help set the tone for the day.

A few random ideas to get the ideas flowing..

Movement (dance, yoga, walking, boxing)

Inspired Living, Journaling Prompts

In Detail- Journal Prompt

Hello Kind Soul,

Life get’s chaotic, we get distracted by all the undones, not yet’s, not rights etc.

I was recently reminded of how powerful detailed gratitude can be. What I mean by this is instead of writing out  say 3-5 + things you are grateful for (Clean Water, my job, family etc.. )  You get specific about 1 (I am grateful for my family and the way we can rally together in times of difficulty….

So this week’s journal prompt is to do just that.

Choose one thing you are grateful for and describe what and why in detail.

Friday 5

Bring Intention into your weekend- Friday 5

5 ways to bring intention into your weekend
1) Determine how you would like to feel.
2) Make a mini list of what you want/need to do this weekend. (*hint, check in with your word of how you want to feel. Do these actions bring you closer or further to it)
3) Plan your week ahead, Personally I like to do this Sunday evening. It helps me approach my week with far more intention than if I just react to everything that comes up.
4) Spend at least a little time doing something that nourishes you. Go outside, read, take a bath, cook/order a yummy meal etc..
5) Check in how often you are checking out with your phone or other device/screen. It’s not about beating yourself up. It’s about noticing how often you do this by default. The more we check in about these things the more intentional you become when you do pick up your device or remote.

Tools to support you in your grief- Friday 5

Hey Beautiful Souls,

As many of you know my Father passed away last June and it’s been a huge loss in so many ways for my family. The truth is we all have either gone through, will, or know someone who is going through grief. It’s a journey that has SO many layers to it. Some days I do fine other days it hits me like a ton of bricks. I have used some tools to help me with the process of grief. I am not going to say get over it or move on but to help me move forward.  I wanted to share those tools with you as I have benefited from those who share their tools, experience, and thoughts on grief. I am certainly not anywhere close to an expert, just someone who has gone through/is going through this journey and knows that others speaking out has helped me. ❤

5 tools that have been supporting  me through grief:

1)    Books on grief. One, in particular, that’s unlike any other grief book I have read so far  is Permission to Mourn by Tom Zuba

2)    Allowing space to feel, this one is actually really difficult for me with not just grief emotions but others as well. But allowing myself to feel what I feel and not constantly assume I need to figure it out and fix it. Allowing space to get out a good cry if I need to.

3)    Writing/Journaling/Creating. For me this has come in in the form of a few letters, spiling out paper, visual journaling and even painting I found some great prompts in a course on grief. The journaling can come in forms of lists, rants, letters to your loved one, visual journaling (images and sometimes words that capture what you might be feeling) Don’t overthink it or judge it, just allow it to be expressed whatever way it wants to.

4)    Sites like: What’s your grief,  and this site/podcast  (and there are some really supportive grief groups on facebook)

5)    Deep breaths and moving my body. I will be honest, there have been plenty of times where I don’t feel like doing anything. Just sitting and zoning. But I know this isn’t good for my mind, body or soul so I have been known to talk myself into it, a lot! Plus seeing some of what my father or other family has gone through is a massive reminder I need to take care of my health.

Some of the best advice, but often difficult for us to follow is: Don’t judge your grief, (what it should look like, feel like etc.) and most of all be gentle with yourself. There are places to go to if you decide that a grief counselor or group would support your path to processing your grief.

Thursday Thoughts

Notice- Thursday thoughts

Hey, Beautiful Souls.

How are you? What’s feeling heavy for you right now? What goodness are you seeing, experiencing, creating?

I think so often we are so busy trying to figure things out that we don’t take the time to stop and notice all feelings, shifts, gratitude, sadness or whatever else our lives and bodies are showing to us, holding for us all the time.

Life is full for most of us for many reasons especially these days it seems. Noticing can be healing and revealing.

What’s your body holding onto these days?

What is making  you laugh or smile (even in the midst of grief, chaos )

What songs, words, images are tugging at your soul, nourishing you, breaking you open?

What will you allow yourself to be open to noticing within and around you right now, today, this week?

17 Awesome things to try in 2017

work-to-become

  1. Sign up for Creativebug.com they have a ton of classes and are incredibly affordable. ($5 a month)
  2. Try a 30 day Yoga Challenge (doyouyoga.com has one for free)
  3. Try a 30 Meditation challenge (doyouyoga.com also has this for free!)
  4. Project 365 or project 52 photo a day or photo a week for the year (I am doing 365 again this year after years of not really trying to do so!)
  5. Spend 5 minutes daily on your finances. (5-minute finance check-ins is something I am putting into place this year!)
  6. Sign up for a reading challenge (I am attempting 32 books at least this year!)
  7. A new recipe, or once a week, month, season.
  8. Visual Journaling (I happen to have a course  that I created here!)
  9.  Don’t complain for 24 hours (this is something I am going to attempt, likely several times lol)
  10. Work with a Coach (My current offerings in supporting you!)
  11. Go on to Udemy.com  and sign up for a class on a skill you think would be fun to learn or would support your other desires this year.
  12. A blog, YouTube Channel, Podcast. A way to share your ideas with others!
  13. Try a new “look” maybe it’s switching up your accessories, getting a new hairstyle or color, revamping your wardrobe or getting one or two pieces you love but are not your usual.
  14. Explore the various ways to move your body to support your well-being. Dance, walk, YouTube videos, in person classes, a group, In Home Yoga, Dancing to your own beat!
  15. Try asking for what you want a little more often. Start small if this feels intimidating to you. If you go out to eat and someone says where do you feel like going.. if you do have an opinion then speak it! Sometimes the person we need to be the most honest with about our needs and desires is ourselves.. start there if that this feels true for you. Ask yourself what I Really need is, what I really want is…
  16. We are surrounded by so many choices. One thing you might try this year is to limit yourself. This can be a personal challenge of not spending anything (unnecessary) for a day, week, month. It could also be not allowing the overwhelm of all your supplies to stop you from starting…Pare down your supplies and dive in!
  17. Making a practice of telling yourself what you appreciate about you (daily and in the mirror would be even more powerful, but start with what feels right)

What are some awesome things you might want to try in 2017?
