Hey Inspired Souls!
In part 1 of Inspiration hunting and how it can help you get to know you, I give a list of the tools that I have been using to keep inspired and find my voice. The first one I will go into more depth about is Photography.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
–Aaron Siskind
Allowing myself to be a photo nerd is one of the best gifts I have ever given myself. I can’t even tell you all the wonderful moments and creativity it has led me to. It’s opened me up to things I know I would have passed or under appreciated before. It’s funny my Dad told me a while back, at a family gathering we had that when he was looking at me looking around that he could tell I was seeing things around me through the lens, even with out a camera in my hand.. It just opens you up.. it has for me anyways!
It’s not about skill, it’s about heart, what is it that you see that inspires you, moves you, makes you sad, happy, in awe. I have learned that the little things in my everyday inspire me to see the world differently. Through photography you can speak your voice, share your moments, your world.
The way it helps you get to know yourself is that you get to capture and express things the way you see it, feel it, experience it. It can help you notice lines, shapes, colors, objects, people in a new way. I have had the experience when you open yourself up to inspiration in these ways it domino’s on other parts of your life. Inspiration, Joy, Self Expression, just breeds more of the same. That is my experience of it over the last 15 months.
The beauty of the digital photography age ( and the camera phone’s) is that it makes it so you can take bunch’s of pictures, sometimes it takes a bunch to get that one that really express what you want, sometimes you get that in the first shot. Really just have fun with it, give it a try.. Even if you are not sure if it’s for you. Challenge yourself to go an a photo inspiration hunt, what can you see in your surroundings, home, neighborhood in a new and inspired way?
I really hope this encourages and inspires you to pick up any kind of camera and seek inspiration in your everyday.. I would really love if you shared what you find and are inspired by with me. You can do that here or post a link on this post to where it is and I would love to go look!
Here is to living Inspired, Creative and Empowered
