Make that appointment- Self and Soul Care Saturday

Hey Lovely Soul!

A part of self-care that is not often talked about is medical/health self-care. Many of us likely have some health-related appointment that we are putting off (aka: Avoiding!) maybe it’s your yearly check up, dental visit, labs you need to get, talking to your doctor about some issue you have been having, finding a doctor…

Following through with this is the ultimate self-care.

So today(if you are reading this on Saturday at the least put it in your planner to make the appointment if you can’t call and leave a message or do the research you need to) make that appointment you have been avoiding!

What is it to you- Self and Soul Care Saturday

Heya, Beautiful Souls!

It’s easy to get stuck in a self-care rut, either avoiding it or just going through the motions but not really engaging in things that really feed us.

So this week, let’s look at what self and soul care you are craving, what your desires are around it and what are your absolute basics.

  1. My very basics of self and soul care are…
  2. What my body, mind, soul are needing right now are…
  3. Self and soul care that I would love to do but can’t…. (now what are one or two feelings or bits you can take from those and break it down, simplify it) can those be added into your self an soul care inspiration -go to list?
  4. Is the self and soul care I am engaging in now are really nourishing and supporting me?

Now take at least one tiny thing insight, action etc from this exploration and schedule it in or better yet dive into it today!

Connect with nature- Self and Soul Care Saturday

Hey, Lovely Souls!

This week’s self and soul care practice is to connect with nature.

This will likely look different for each of us. However, here are some ideas for ways you might connect with nature today, this weekend etc…

  1. Open the windows, let some breeze and fresh air in.
  2. Get a plant or some flowers and bring nature inside.
  3. Go outside for even 10 minutes and notice (maybe you feel like capturing through your lens) the flowers, trees, sky, clouds.
  4. Go to the beach (if you happen to have one near!)
  5. Go for a walk around your neighborhood
  6. Sit outside for 5 minutes and just close your eyes and feel the breeze.

Those are some ways to start connecting with nature, what are your favorite ways?

4 Things- Self and Soul Care Saturday

Hey Beautiful Souls!

This week’s Self and Soul Care feels fitting for what I am seeing in my virtual and real life surroundings.  It’s essentially 4 steps to infuse a little joy and calm. These can help support us in shifting our energy, even if  just a little!

1)      Take a deep breath (hand on heart, eyes closed)

2)      Make a list of things that bring you joy (big and small)

3)      Schedule in 1 or more of those things for the weekend or week coming up

4)      Find something beautiful in your surroundings, right where you are.

Music- Self and Soul Care Saturday

Hey,  Beautiful Souls!

Music is really powerful and it can be so good for the Soul! I noticed that I get caught up in the noise, the hum of everyday life (and that can be chaotic, stressful and beautiful sometimes all at once!)  For some of us it’s the tune, others it’s mostly the words ( that’s me.. I listen to all types if i like the message!)

This week’s Self and Soul Care Saturday action is to: Listen to music. Maybe you have some on your phone, maybe you need to log into YouTube or Amazon prime music, Pandora or any other number of ways to get music!

Choose a song or two or even three! Lean into the mood of the music, close your eyes and really listen, get up and dance if that’s what you feel moved to do…

What music moves you?

Choose a Nourishing book- Self & Soul Care Saturday!

Hey Beautiful Souls!

For years, I have had a deep love of reading. For the last few years, I have made more time for it but not as much time as I would have liked.

If you are anything like me you have a lot of books, some you have had for a while that you don’t yet want to let go of because you do want to read them, and you have some that you bought or received recently. Don’t let the length of time factor into what book you choose to read this month.

This week’s act of Self and Soul is: Choose a Nourishing book. Not one you should read or have to read. Choose one that feels really nourishing to you, that’s a yes when you look at it!

What book will you choose, or what book will choose you?!

Some of my current nourishing reads are: Creative Revolution by Flora Bowley, Hygge- Comfort and Food for the Soul
